Now that the Deadpool movie has been greenlit, it’s time to start the rampant speculation on all sorts of things.
In this case, it’s the question of whether or not Deadpool will get a PG-13 rating or if it will get the R rating that many fans would expect.
The rumor originated with this comment from the Schmoes Know podcast:
“I heard from the director [Tim Miller] that they finally figured out the script, and it was right before this was announced, that they figured out, and you guys are all going to hate this, that they figured out how to make it PG-13 and therefore not lose its soul – that’s a quote – of the script so they can make it.”
Keep in mind that a PG-13 rating allows for quite a bit of violence these days, so it might still be possible to make a Deadpool movie that won’t “lose it’s soul”. And, let’s be honest, it’s highly unlikely that Marvel would ever risk limiting the audience with an R rating. However, I have a feeling that the fan world must have spoken its mind on the news and rather loudly, because Deadpool writer/producer Rhett Reese weighed in on Twitter.
Check it out after the break.
Hey, guys, no one knows yet whether Dpool will be R or PG-13. There may not be an announcement for a long while. Hang in!

Looks like we won’t have an answer any time soon, but I think we can agree that both Miller and Reese are both working hard to give us a Deadpool movie that we’ll love and that they feel is true to the character.
