Great news for Marvel fans. Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD has been picked up for a second season and Agent Peggy Carter is getting her own show on ABC.

Based on the short film included in the Iron Man 3 DVD release, Agent Carter will go straight to series starring Hayley Atwell.

The show will pick up a year after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger and will give viewers a chance to see what happened to Peggy after Cap went into the deep freeze.

From The Hollywood Reporter:

The story is set in 1946 and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life — Steve Rogers.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Agent Carter will be a short-order series and likely used as a “bridge show” to air during the second season hiatus of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, with both series ultimately being tied-in together.
