Apparently, George Lucas is only hedging his bets with with the release of Star Wars in 3D next year, because he recently explained to Seth Rogan how he truly believes that the world will end in 2012.
He recalls, “George Lucas sits down and seriously proceeds to talk for around 25 minutes about how he thinks the world is gonna end in the year 2012, like, for real. He thinks it.
“He’s going on about the tectonic plates and all the time Spielberg is, like, rolling his eyes, like, ’My nerdy friend won’t shut up, I’m sorry…’
Rogan went on to explain how he thought that Lucas was joking at first, but came to realize that he was completely serious. So, he asked him the billion dollar question:
‘If you’re George Lucas and you actually think the world is gonna end in a year, there’s no way you haven’t built a spaceship for yourself… So I asked him… ’Can I have a seat on it?’
Sadly, Lucas claims that he doesn’t have a spaceship in his backyard, and Rogan could have been baked and talking to his action figures or something—but I suppose we will have all the answers we need if everything goes to hell in a handbasket in December of 2012 and Lucas zooms overhead in the Millennium Falcon.
