Marvel Reveals New Spider-Man

It appears that Marvel is taking this whole death of Spider-Man story arc in Ultimate Comics Spider-Man and Ultimate Comics Avengers vs Ultimates seriously—they’ve just revealed Peter Parker’s replacement.

“We called this story ‘Death of Spider-Man’ for a reason,” said Axel Alonso, Marvel Editor In Chief. “This is a huge story that’ll have fans around the world talking for a long time as we set the stage for the debut of our new Spider-Man.”

As you can see, the costume has changed a bit (a cooler look in our opinion), and there will be a new person wearing it come June after the culmination of the storyline in Ultimate Spider-Man #160.

This kind of crap is why I quit buying comics. You can’t just kill off the hero and expect the fans to keep following the “new guy.” First Johnny Storm, now Peter Parker? Who’s next? Thor? Stupid idea. It would work for Green Lantern because of the way GL got his powers, maybe even for Batman. Not for even one of Marvel’s heroes.
