Iomega is now shipping a 320GB external HDD using an eSATA connection. Based on a 7200 RPM, 2 MB cache, it offers 1500 Mbps of throughput. useful as a backup solution, it comes complete with backup software for both Mac and Windows OS. Suggested retail is $240.
Unit can be connected using the eSATA port, an eSATA PCI adapter is included if your motherboard does not already have one, or USB 2.0. You know that a USB connection is a very slow solution, so you should really be looking at using the eSATA connection. If you don’t have an eSATA connection, and either don’t want to use the PCI card or don’t have a slot open, maybe you would be better off looking for another solution.
