This damn OLED keyboard with programmable keys has been kicking around for so long it seemed like it would never come out.
Unfortunately, when it is finally released this spring, there are going to be changes from the original design that aren’t going to make consumers happy. First, they are only supporting black and white keys – not color ones as we were led to believe. That takes away half the fun. Second, word is that the keyboard will cost $1200 initially!! The ability to program keys for gaming sounds cool, but you could upgrade your graphics card and processor for less than that.
The Optimus Keyboard looked like a really cool concept when I first saw it, but development is taking way too long and the price is way too high. Maybe an evaluation demo will change my mind. But I doubt it.
They are taking 103 preorders on December 12 for May delivery, and preorders later for a September delivery for under $1k – or so they claim.
