$1195 Industrial Keyboard

What makes for a $1195 keyboard you ask? Check out the specs on the Stealth Computer model 2000-DT-TB:

  • Totally Sealed NEMA 4X Stainless Steel Full Case travel QWERTY.
  • 114 Keys, 24 Function Keys, WIN KEY
  • The trackball is easily removable for convenient cleaning
  • Adjustable Tension Ring ensures the proper amount of trackball smoothness for any user.
  • 10 Million cycles expected life
  • Includes 6′cable w/ 5-pin DIN, 9-pin serial connectors, PS/2 cables or USB connector
  • Dimensions:20.25″W x 7.9″D x 1.9″H

It seems that the NEMA 4X rating is the reason behind the price tag. According to the website, “type 4X enclosures are intended for indoor or outdoor use primarily to provide a degree of protection against corrosion, windblown dust and rain, splashing water, and hose-directed water; and to be undamaged by the formation of ice on the enclosure. they are not intended to provide protection against conditions such as internal condensation or internal icing.”

Obviously, these keyboards are intended for industrial applications and are designed to operate under harsh conditions. Still, you would think that a $1195 keyboard wouldn’t be as ugly as hell.

You would also think they wouldnt want trackball, hell I would rather have the little red button I have on my laptop.
