In an effort to keep pace with AMD and regain lost market share, Intel has announced that they will be slashing the price of their Pentium products by up to 60% and their faster dual core chips by 15%.

Naturally, this aggressive move by Intel will spark price cuts by AMD.

“If Intel chooses to create a more aggressive market environment over the long term, that’s something we’ll have to respond to,” Advanced Micro President Dirk Meyer said earlier this week at the Computex conference. He declined to give details on Advanced Micro’s price cuts.

So, if you are planning an upgrade sometime in the near future, you may want to hold on for the price war to get in full swing. Intel price cuts are expected to begin on July 23rd.
