Four years ago we posted a video of Adam Savage in the midst of building a replica of the Zorg ZF-1 blaster from The Fifth Element. It was actually the fifth replica project he worked on over the course of the past 17 years.

Needless to say, this prop is one of Adam’s obsessions—but now he can put it to rest. The prop has been completed and all of the details are there. Like ALL of them. Take a closer look in the video below. [click to continue…]

When Belgium’s Musée royal de Mariemont decided to create an exhibition called “From Stargate to Comics: Egyptian Gods In Geek Culture”, the very first thing they were going to need was a life-size Stargate portal. Duh.

Since it’s not the sort of thing that’s just lying around, they approached 3D-printing studio Vigo Universal to craft a 20-foot tall replica. When all was said and done, the project took over 1,000 working hours to complete, and involved 3D printing 2,000 separate parts with 10,000 cuttings. Check out the video below to see how it was made. [click to continue…]

NECA is about to release life-size foam facehugger that features a bendable tail. It’s perfect for anyone that really wanted to turn their home into a xenomorph breeding ground (because who wouldn’t), but lacks the funds and/or space to purchase the full egg and facehugger set.

No pricing information has been announced, but the replica is expected to go on sale sometime this summer.

A Star Wars superfan built his very own AT-ST – those mini-walkers seen on the forests of Endor in Return of the Jedi – in his backyard. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a build like this, but it’s by far the best.

The walker was spotted by a “Mr. Kernish” who noticed it in the distance when he was doing some work nearby. He took photos then followed up with video showing off the thing. The person who built it prefers not to be named, but it’s a surprisingly robust build, complete with moving turrets, sound effects and a remarkably detailed interior.

So, let’s put all of this into perspective. Apparently, some anonymous genius decided to build a stunning, life-size AT-ST in his backyard, and never planned to tell the Internet about it. He did it solely for his own amusement. Hard to believe in this day and age.

Check out the original photos and the follow-up videos below.
