When you hear about Sonoma County in California, you probably think of rolling hills and wineries. You’ll find an abundance of both of those things, but if you look harder you’ll also find the unexpected. Like the world’s largest private collection of Star Wars memorabilia. You read that right. HBO has done it. They’ve created the coolest kit and immersive marketing campaign/experience ever to promote the upcoming premiere of Game of Thrones. About a week ago, carefully selected recipients started to receive an elaborate box containing a flight of scents. The kit was the necessary for figuring out the first step of The Maester’s Path. The Path is a game and once you figure out each part, you forge another link of your Maester chain. They wear a chain around their necks, and each link is forged with a different metal that signifies mastery over a different art. It’s the ideal set-up for a campaign, and so far, HBO has made it impressive. If they treat promotion with this much care and detail, it bodes well for the series.
But, I digress.

Either way, you have an idea of what the fare will be: crusty bread, cheese, a meat stew or skewer, and a mug of mulled cider, wine, or ale. Coffee and tea might be options too along with some fruit for dessert.

Let’s face it, water is boring and breakfast shakes have a disturbing lack of bacon flavor. So why not start out your day by dropping a couple of these effervescent bacon tablets into your water, milk, soda or juice? It will infuse the beverage with a bacon-y (or cupcake-y) goodness.
Actually, you can use it with any beverage. So think about dropping one in your beer , coffee or, better yet, your friend’s wine when they aren’t looking.

Portland resident Ben Fleskes created this Lego Pac Man arcade which will play a variety of 80′s arcade games including Pac-Man, Donky Kong and Space Invaders. The 34″ machine uses a Jamma 48-1 board, ATX power supply and a switchable 4-way/8-way joystick. He also pointed out that No Lego pieces were cut or altered during creation… As if that would somehow detract from the glory of this machine. Check out the video after the break to see it in action.
