Ric Turner, a former Disney Imagineer, may have topped his previous interactive Guitar Hero Christmas display with this incredible Angry Birds light show which is “playable”:

Running on two computers and 10 Light-o-rama 16 channel controllers, uses more than 20,000 lights and less than one cent of electricity per game. Audio is broadcast on 99.1FM, and the controller has a long enough cord for people to play in their cars on the street. Easier than the iPhone version, and bigger too.

Unfortunately for Ric, all of his neighbors are now addicted to his house.

The Addis family of Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire has a Christmas tradition that involves using thousands of LEGO bricks to create festive masterpieces. Over the past 18 Christmases, the family has built a snowman, a giant angel and a snow-covered church. However, this year they decided to create a 7-foot Dalek wearing a Santa hat.

Each creation requires nearly 200 hours of build time, and when completed, adorns the family’s Christmas card.

Our friends at Archie McPhee alerted us to this magnificent Cthulhu-themed Christmas tree they made out of about 50 Cthulhu tentacles and one hard to find plush Cthulhu (though there are alternatives like this and this).

If I was a little kid and my presents were under this tree, I would be grabbing them with a stick at a distance of at least 10 feet.

Exam week is often stressful, but Darth Vader is here to help. This Vader puts on a Santa hat and brings a flash mob to town. Some students try to keep studying through the choir’s performance of “Carol of the Bells,” but most end up cracking a smile. I know it has to be a choir; no way so many random people would know the words to that song.

Some things are accepted as universal truths. Sure, there’s that whole “everyone has the right to pursue happiness” bit, but these facts are also permanent: there will always be people who love to eat and people who love to cook. Several of them will be on your holiday shopping list, and they will also be geeks (I’ve drawn a Venn diagram). We’ve picked out the best of nerdy food and cooking wares and gadgets to help make holiday shopping easier.
