coffee table

If you missed out last time a functional NES controller coffee table was put up for sale, rejoice, because Charles Lushear is offering examples on his Etsy store. The 42″x 18.25″ x 18″ tables are handmade from maple, mahogany and walnut with dovetail joinery and mid century modern legs, and feature a removable glass top and retractable cord. In addition, customers can choose from four different versions to suit various preferences and budgets, including composite and nonfunctional models.

Keenan Bosworth gave a lucky friend this custom Nintendo 64 coffee table, which includes an 18″ pine N64 logo as its base. This is actually Keenan’s second example of the table, the first being a Christmas gift for his brother.

Although the table isn’t available for sale, Keenan is in the process of creating an Instructables page for the project and has posted a number of additional photos of the build on his imgur thread.

After a long, hard day at the office, imagine coming home and resting your feet on the Enterprise NCC-1701-C. The seller crafted the starship from ash, poplar, and cherry wood. It will set you back $3100 before shipping—but you can’t put a price on endless jokes about the warp factor of your living room.

When life gives you lemons, make a really expensive coffee table that leaves the bitter taste of disappointment and regret in your mouth. Also works with your totaled Toyota Camry.

Technically, this custom coffee table from R9 is called the “70s Falcon” to dodge LucasFilm lawyers, but the guy that purchased it is probably wearing a Han Solo costume while admiring the bronze centerpiece at this very moment. The Millennium Falcon bronze also features a retro wood-grain veneer that ties into the base.

This appears to be a one-off item, but we would hope that another could be commissioned for the right price.

The Woodsman’s Axe coffee table is the kind of furniture I would picture Ron Swanson using. For the rest of us, it would make a great conversation piece, and/or a lifesaving tool in the event of a zombie attack.

I have to admit, I’m really digging what Restoration Hardware is doing right now. I even painted some rooms in my house with their signature paint. And if my wife would let me, I would drink a glass of scotch every night in a Aviator Chair with my feet up on this Blackhawk Coffee Table.

The whole thing is handmade with polished aluminum wrapped around hardwood and distressed for that unique vintage aircraft look.

Man, I really need a den.

This certainly isn’t the only NES-themed coffee table to come down the pipeline in recent years, but the difference here is that the buttons on the controller are actually functional and it will be available to own via eBay starting this Sunday, December 19th.

As you will see in the build video after the break, no detail was spared—even the back of the controller is accurate.

I’ve seen giant NES controller coffee tables before, but this is truly the ultimate achievement in the ever-expanding world of furniture that looks like gaming gear.

If the dead-on oversized console build wasn’t amazing enough, consider this: the jumbo controller housed inside the cartridge bay is actually functional. There’s also a bay in the back for storage and two power outlets in place of the controller ports.

This coffee table from designer Jon Gilmore features an aluminum frame with rows of spiraling LEDs in the center that make it seem like a black hole sucking light into the abyss. It would probably suck your coffee in too if it were not for the glass top.
