As if you didn’t already have a good reason to visit Disney theme parks (especially now that Star Tours has reopened) you might want to plan a trip this fall specifically to get your hands on the new line of Muppets Star Wars action figures.

The figures include Beaker as C-3PO, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew as R2-D2, Link Hogthrob as Han Solo, Fozzy the Bear as Chewbacca, Sam the Eagle as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Gonzo as Darth Vader with his Stormtrooper chicken Camilla, Kermit as Luke and Miss Piggy as Leia.

Each figure pack will run about $19. Prototypes can be viewed at Star Wars weekends in “Jabba’s Hut, the specially-designed merchandise location near Disney’s Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster.” More pictures are available after the break as well.

The revamped Star Tours ride at Walt Disney World is now open for business, and here’s a little taste of what visitors can expect:

The second room of the queue is now a security check area, similar to a TSA checkpoint. The two G-series droids are still there, G2-9T scanning luggage and G2-4T scanning passengers. For those attraction junkies, you’ll remember that the G-series droids are so named because in the original Disneyland Park version of the ride, they were created by removing the “skins” from two of the goose animatronics from the soon-to-close America Sings attraction (Goose = “G” series). While we won’t tell you why, you’ll enjoy paying a lot of attention to what the scans of the luggage show is inside. When it’s your turn to go through the passenger scan (a thermal body scan), you may be verbally accosted by a security droid. Also, keep an eye out in the queue for an earlier version of RX-24 (“Captain Rex”) from the original Star Tours; he’s labeled “defective” and has some familiar dialogue.

The following trailer was officially commissioned by Pixar for the upcoming release of Cars 2. It’s the original trailer remade in Lego by Patrick Boivin, who you you might remember from such promotional videos as Ninja Nexus S.

Pixar’s got the right idea with that whole digital animation thing. Lego would just take forever.

The opening date for Star Tours 2.0 is creeping closer.* The Star Wars ride at Disney parks closed last fall for more than just renovations. It’s getting a complete makeover. I’m sure there will be familiar parts, but it will almost be like the Death Star destroyed the first version. I’m excited to see all the new characters, and I can’t wait to visit new worlds. One of the coolest (and genius) aspects of the new ride is that it has variables. You can practically have a new experience every time you ride.

This Disney and Star Wars fan also approves of the Starspeeder upgrade. The Starspeeder is the vehicle in which you travel the galaxy. To generate excitement for the re-opening of Star Tours, Disney Family posted papercrafts of the Starspeeder fleet. Just print them, fold according to the instructions, and you’re ready to adventure into the unknown. I hope you have a solid droid to guide you.

*Visit Star Tours 2 Live for the most up to date information. The site claims they will be on the ground every day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios until the May 20 opening of the revamped ride! Disneyland’s attendees have to wait a little longer; their attraction opens on June 2.

Not surprisingly, Disney is going to have plenty of Star Wars-related merchandise ready for collectors and fans when the Star Tours ride relaunches on May 20th. They haven’t unveiled the complete collection, but we do have a sneak peek at some of the products you can expect to see after the break.

Guests at C2E2 got a glimpse at what the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series will look like when it hits the Disney XD channel in the summer of 2012—presumably alongside another Disney animated project Tron: Uprising.

In the video after the break you’ll also notice that J.K. Simmons is reprising his dead-on role of J. Jonah Jameson for the series.

You may have heard that an animated series based on Tron would be heading to the Disney XD channel in the summer of 2012. You may have also heard that it has a rather eclectic cast featuring the likes of Elijah Wood, Mandy Moore, and Paul Reubens.

Let’s just hope it’s better than the recent film. I would say so far, so good by the looks of the trailer after the break.

Disney has announced a new toy line and the game Lego Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game to coincide with the upcoming movie Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides due out on May 20th, 2011.

That’s all well and good, but check out actor Ian McShane (aka Blackbeard) admiring this life-sized Lego sculpture of Jack Sparrow.

For more information on the toys and game, check out the image gallery and press release after the break.

Every superhero has a weakness, that one fatal flaw that, if exploited properly, will crush our hero and result in the destruction of all mankind. I’m thinking of Superman and the dreaded Kryptonite. Just how many times has that guy been taken out of the game or nearly so by the sudden appearance of this glowy, green, bit of space stuff? As someone who was born on Earth instead of Krypton, I have no problem with any of the random bits of space debris that fall from the sky unless they fall on my head, which so far hasn’t happened. I have discovered, however, that I have a huge weakness that will result not in the destruction of all mankind, but the complete destruction of my checking account. Star Wars is my Kryptonite.
