If you’re looking forward to the return of Bruce Campbell as Ash in the new Starz series Ash vs Evil Dead, you can get your first taste right here.
The new series, which also stars Lucy Lawless and teams both up with Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert will film in New Zealand. Ten half hour episodes are set to premiere on STARZ in late 2015.
Everything about this news makes me happy.

As if we weren’t already excited enough about the upcoming Starz series Ash Vs. Evil Dead, they went ahead and cast Lucy Lawless. According to Deadline, she’ll play Ruby “a mysterious figure who is myopic in her quest to hunt down the source of the recent Evil outbreaks. The only problem: She believes that Ash (Campbell) is the cause of it all”.
With Bruce Campbell back in action as Ash, Sam Rami and her husband Rob Tapert both on as producers, this series is turning out to be like a mini Xena reunion tucked inside an Evil Dead sequel. It doesn’t get much better than that.
We knew that Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell were cooking up an Evil Dead tv series, but at that point it was just a lot of talk. Given all of the unfounded rumors on the issue of Ash’s return over the years, we took it with a grain of salt.
This time things are different. It’s actually happening.
Starz has ordered a 10-episode series called Ash Vs. Evil Dead for a 2015 premiere. Bruce Campbell will star and co-produce the series and Sam Raimi will direct (the first episode at least). And yes, it will serve as a followup to to the films. Essentially, it’s the Evil Dead 4 that we’ve been waiting for:
Campbell reprises his role as the title character Ash, a stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last three decades avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons — personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its evil grip.
“Evil Dead has always been a blast,” Raimi said. “Bruce, Rob, and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the next chapter in Ash’s lame, but heroic saga. With his chainsaw arm and his ‘boomstick,’ Ash is back to kick some monster butt. And brother, this time there’s a truckload of it.”
Truckload indeed. Instead of and hour-and-a-half of Evil Dead on the big screen, we’re getting five hours to enjoy on television. Personally, I couldn’t be more excited about it.
File these under things you wish you could buy, but can’t. Sadly, these haven’t actually been produced. These are the latest 3D designs from A Large Evil Corporation, following up on their fantastic Cornetto Trilogy designs featuring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. We desperately want them all to be real.

Remember the talk about Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell revving up Evil Dead again from a while back? Well, Shock Till You Drop reported that Sam Raimi, his brother, and Bruce Campbell revealed that they’re working on an Evil Dead TV series during Friday’s Screen Gems panel.
However, Campbell’s role in the series was unclear, so a fan asked later.
You can check out Bruce Campbell’s reply after the break.

There’s been chatter about Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell making Army of Darkness 2 for a while now, but the rumors tend to swirl up for a while and then die down.
Well, there was another bubble of news straight from Bruce Campbell at Wizard World Nashville for people who are hoping to see Ash again.
Campbell told ComicBook.com the following:
The last one was 22 years ago. I just haven’t been racing to do it. Sam Raimi is just a little bit busy making the biggest movies in Hollywood. I use to be busy. Now I’m not. That’s why I’m here. . . Ash would have to stop occasionally from chasing some deadite to catch his breath. Maybe we could do that, I guess. That would be exciting. Fight in a walker. That would be alright. Hit them with my cane. Fake them out, have a fake heart attack, distract a zombie. I like it. . . Alright sir, the answer is yes.
What do you do if Deadites are in your shed? Use your boomstick on them until they are really dead.
Talented artist DrFaustusAU has brought us many cool Dr. Seuss and video game mash ups (like these) and he’s also created this awesome one for Evil Dead. He wrote a verse to accompany it:
I chained and locked the cellar door–
There’s something strange beneath the floor.

When Luke Skywalker went into a bacta tank, he knew exactly what he wanted. Forget a mechanical hand, give that boy a chainsaw. Speaking of, I think a Star Wars and Evil Dead mash up would be amazing.
