German model maker Robert Gulpan has been creating miniature examples on high-end cars since the 1990s – but it will be hard, if not impossible to top his latest offering: a 1:8 scale model of the Lamborghini Aventador which is apparently worth $4.7 million – a fact that is only more stunning when you consider that the actual car is only around $400K.

The mini Aventador was handcrafted from the original blueprints and boasts a carbon fiber chassis lined with a 1/1000 mm thread of solid gold, as well as diamond encrusted seats and wheels created out of a platinum and gold alloy. If you have $5 Million of disposable income laying around that you would like to invest in a dustable, the model is expected to go up for auction in New York this December.

Believe it or not, a company called LensRentals thinks people would be willing to rent a chess set with “70-200 f/2.8 pawns, 600mm f/4 Kings and 500mm f4 Queens, 400mm f/2.8 Bishops, 300mm f/2.8 Knights, and 200mm f/2.0 Rooks in black (Nikon) and white (Canon)” for $9,221.25 per week (plus $1100-$2400 for shipping).

But wait! If you would like to purchase the set it will set you back a cool $151,202.17—and that’s the bargain price. They say that once the Canon Mk II Supertelephoto lenses are released the price will increase “substantially”.

But wait, there’s even more! If you purchase before September 1st you get a $13 LensRentals shirt! Holy sh*tballs how could you pass this deal up? I know how you do it. Buy some of these cheap camera lens mugs and reproduce the entire setup for a couple hundred bucks.

What do you get for the man that has everything? Usually I get him a gift certificate to the local golf store. Seriously, my father is the hardest person on Earth to buy for. However, if money was no object I might buy something from the list below. Though, I have to admit that, in my case, the Mobile Beer Bar and the VirtualGT racing simulator are more like gifts that you get someone that are really for yourself. My father doesn’t drink beer, he couldn’t make a bowl of cereal to save his life and he drives conservatively. Meanwhile, I would cook meat and drink beer while virtual racing.

In the midst of all the iPhone hysteria going on today, you may have forgotten that Hellboy II has arrived in theaters. No worries—we have the merchandising machine covered with this insanely expensive, life-sized ‘Big Baby’ Shotgun Replica. It features six removable shells and a musical wind up feature that plays “Lullaby and Goodnight.” Obviously, it is non-functional—but the Big Baby will still do some serious damage to your finances.

This mannequin is meant for display windows, but how cool would it be to have one at your own house? All you need is a couple people to see it and spread the word. Then you can decide which of the attractive women who are dying to see it you want to invite to your next party. Maybe there is a better reason to have one other than to pick up chicks, it just isn’t clear to me what that would be.

Giant Umbrella

You get some idea of the size of this umbrella from the picture above. It is 5 meters wide and octagonal in shape. I am not going to try to figure out the area of this, but lets just say it covers a lot. And if that isn’t enough, it is mounted on an offset pole that swings around 360 degrees. If I could afford a patio that big then maybe I could afford this umbrella as well.

Double the air movement in your house with a biplane ceiling fan. Fans with single blades just can’t match the blade area of this fine fan based on the Wright Brother’s plane at Kitty Hawk. While their plane was experimental and a little fragile, this thing looks well made and ready to go. Any aviation buff will appreciate it’s history, and it really is a nice looking fan in any case.

I am obviously dating myself here, but I do remember watching Lost in Space re-runs. The Robot B9 was one of the cooler people on that ship. And there is actually a company that makes full size replicas. So if that show was some sort of turning point in your life and you have a suitcase full of cash, you could have one of these sitting in your living room.

It has been around for a couple years, but I have never seen it. It is in limited runs, so if you want one you had best get on a waiting list now.
