This German designed e-volo multicopter is touted as the possible future of flight  - “piloting a device as simple as a car.” The aircraft is equipped with sixteen tiny propellers driven by independent electric motors, resulting in a quiet, clean and economically cost efficient machine.

The lithium batteries would allow for 10 to 30 minutes of flight depending on payload and battery capacity, expending roughly $10 worth of electricity in the process. In addition, the e-volo is extremely simple in design, and can land safely even if four of its motors fail.

The technology is still in development, but the team behind the e-volo are hoping that their aircraft will one day be used for air sports equipment, leisure and even “entirely new use areas that no one has yet imagined.”

Coming soon to a roof, tree or gated yard near you, the Air Hogs Vectron Wave UFO. Instead of using a remote control, this baby is powered by gestures. After starting the motor it will start to hover above your palm, then if you move your hand toward the ground, the UFO will follow. An upward gesture will apparently make the UFO gain altitude, and the more violent the motion, the higher it goes. You can also make diagonal toss motions to move it toward a friend so you can play UFO catch with it. The jury’s out on whether it will respond to obscene gestures, but if it doesn’t that would make another great product.

Hasbro recently unveiled their new radio controlled flying Millennium Falcon which is slated for release this fall with a price tag of $49.99. Measuring 11″ x 8″, it will also hold the title of the largest flying R/C Star Wars craft to date, while also offering impressive detail, a charging controller and vehicle battery for up to five minutes of flying time.

No doubt Star Wars nerds will take issue with the fact that this thing is mostly fan, which detracts from the sexy look of the original Falcon. Although the design could prove useful should Han & Chewy ever want to give guided tours of the Florida Everglades.

Now you can control your very own Flying Monkey with no golden cap needed, although his only function will be to crack open some nuts. Luckily, you happen to have captured him in the midst of his kidnapping of Toto so you get a flying monkey that looks like he is on his way to a picnic. Not quite the same as the fearsome creature from the movie.

screaming-flying-granny

Pull back this granny’s elasticized arms and let her go. Not only will you have a flying senior citizen, she will also give her grandmotherly “Woo.. Wee..” as she is airborne. A fine change of pace for those who prefer their superheroes to have the ability to cook great cookies rather than bend steel.

around-the-world-clock

It is hard not to think of time flying by when you look at a clock with planes on the end of the hour and minute hands. You can watch the two jets circumnavigating the globe as you go through each day. This clock would be great for work when you really wish you were flying to some tropical destination rather than sitting at your desk.
