Official Groot-Doh

James Gunn has been known to give Play-Doh to cast and crew members as a reward for their hard work. He notes that “smelling it reminds me of childhood and pure creativity. So I like giving out that experience on set.”

This is what happens when you give Play-Doh to a bunch of props guys working on a big budget film like Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2.

Omaze is giving you a chance to hang with Chris Pratt and help out the Lake Stevens Boys and Girls Club in Lake Stevens, Washington. The experience includes travel to Atlanta, GA (with a four star hotel stay) for a behind-the-scenes tour of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 set (including the Milano), lunch with Chris Pratt, and your own “awesome” mixtape.

Heck, hanging with Chris Pratt doing pretty much anything would be a blast, so this experience sounds amazeballs. Plus, you get to help out some great kids.

Pratt has signed some pretty epic items, which you get at higher donation levels, but you can enter to win for only $10.

Plus, Chris Pratt did a video. Which you’re gonna want to watch. Just trust me on this.

If you don’t follow writer/director James Gunn on social media, I highly suggest you remedy that. His feeds are always a treasure trove of awesome. In this case, quite literally.

Gunn posted these pictures of a custom-made Awesome Mix Vol. 2 coffee table that has an awesome story.

One of our pre-vis animation artists had this incredible Awesome Mix Vol. 2 coffee table custom made, and it sits in front of us every day while we work on designing the big sequences in the film. I love this table because it’s a gorgeous piece of work, but also because it’s yet another sign of how passionate and invested so many of my co-creators on this film are. We all truly care about the movie we’re making.

This weekend is shaping up to be Groot-tastic because Season 1 of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy animated series kicks off on Saturday, September 26th. The one-hour premiere starts with an encore presentation of “Road to Knowhere” followed by “Knowhere to Run”. Guess where both episodes take place?

Picking up where the live action film left off, this new series stars Will Friedle (Boy Meets World) as Peter Quill, Trevor Devall (Johnny Test) as Rocket Raccoon, Vanessa Marshall (Star Wars Rebels) as Gamora, David Sobolov (Transformers: Prime) as Drax the Destroyer, Kevin Michael Richardson (The Cleveland Show) as Groot and James Arnold Taylor (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) as Yondu and Cosmo.

I recently had a chance to talk with the cast and sit in on a recording session. I can report that this cast has definitely jumped in to make these characters their own (they’re also some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet).

What’s the series about, you ask? Well, I have an answer for you!
