World-crafting fun can now be had on your iPhone or iPad now that the Minecraft Pocket Edition has hit the App Store for $6.99.

Features:

  • Randomized worlds
  • Build anything you can imagine
  • Build with 36 different kinds of blocks
  • Invite and play with friends to your world (local wireless network)
  • Save multi-player worlds on your own phone

I haven’t had a chance to test it out myself, but it appears that this is an extremely barebones version of Minecraft, focusing only on the creative component of the game. Hopefully, that will change as more updates are added.

Our friends at QMx have unveiled a new Warehouse 13 app that allows users to turn their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch into a Farnsworth for sharing video and audio messages. And believe me, QMx knows something about Farnsworths—they actually make the props for the show.

Haven’t had enough Angry Birds yet? I’m sure a backlash is on the horizon, but in the meantime a speaker series is on the way from gear4.

Despite the red bird having a reputation for being useless, the speaker is actually quite functional. Both the red bird and bomber bird versions have the ability to connect to a mobile device with an auxiliary cable. It also comes with a separate iPhone/iPod/iPad dock. The green pig version, on the other hand, has a built-in helmet dock for the iPod/iPhone.

Look for the speakers to be released later this fall for $79.99-$99.99.

We have seen plenty of stickers and cases in the past that turn your iPhone into a Game Boy, but Lootiful is going a step further by developing a Game Boy polycarbonate snap-on back plate for the iPad 2.

The case isn’t ready for sale just yet, but Lootiful claims that it will be avaiable for pre-order “soon”.

Casey Putsch knows a thing or two about cars. His company, Putsch Racing designs, restores and appraises them daily. So if anyone could make an actual turbine-powered Batmobile, it would be him.

Indeed, Putsch went all out on his Burton-era Batmobile, outfitting it with a 385-horespower Boeing turboshaft engine lifted from a naval drone helicopter that can run on jet fuel, kerosene or diesel. Despite being 20-feet long and 7.5-feet wide, the Batmobile is completely street legal.

He also made the sound system iPod-compatible and added an iPad to his dash to function as an avionics system and GPS navigator.

Check out the video after the break and learn why Putsch’s batsuit had better include a set of earplugs.

We just got word that a new Super 8 camera app has been released in the App Store and it is free for a limited time.

The app ties in with the upcoming J.J. Abrams flick, and if you are into retro photography/video it’s looking like a must-have for your iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch (4th gen), and iPad 2.

I haven’t had a chance to play around with it much at this point, but it looks badass so far. Right off the bat you wil notice a beautiful UI and plenty of effects. And again, it’s totally free right now.

Check out the full list of features after the break.

The iCade started out as an April Fools joke last year, but not long after we got word that ThinkGeek was actually going to bring the iPad arcade cabinet to life. And now, the device is almost ready to ship.

Not only that, the Atari’s Greatest Hits app has been configured to work with the iCade, so there will be 100 retro games to play right out of the box. ThinkGeek will also be releasing an API for other developers wishing to bake-in iCade compatibility. The device works with both the original iPad and the iPad 2.

The iCade is scheduled to ship on May 20th. Pre-orders are available now.

Gear4 is prepping some Angry Birds cases for the throngs of people that rushed out to pick up the iPad 2 last week.

There will be three cases in all: Red Bird, Family Shot and Pig King vs. Red Bird—all of which should do a better job of protecting your iPad than glass, cement and wood does protecting green pigs.

Unfortunately, the cases will be a bit on the pricey side at £40 or $65 when released. So far, no information has been released about when that release date might be.

Optoma is billing it’s brand new Neo-i as the world’s first “all-in-one iPod sound dock with built-in Pico Projector”, and they were kind enough to give us a hands-on look to see if it can deliver.

The answer is yes—it can.

It isn’t perfect, but the Neo-i is a surprisingly brilliant little device for iPhone/iPod touch and iPad owners. It also holds its own as an HDMI projector.

Unless you bought and iPhone or and iPad for your baby, we’ll have to assume that these adorable Elmo and Cookie monster cases are for the entertainment of both you and your child—or maybe just you. Needless to say, if you do have kids, they are going to want to play with your toys that much more now.

Then one day you catch them trying to feed your iPad a cookie. Hilariousness (mixed with concern) ensues.
