The training of your young needling continues with Introductory Calculus For Infants.
Life is all arithmetic. We try to add to our incomes, subtract from our waistlines, divide our time, and for a while, we avoid multiplying. (Lest we not secure a career that adds to our income!) But a time comes when we want to be fruitful and multiply. We want to add to the legion of geeks.
Then we become the parent that says, “If I’ve told you n times, I’ve told you n + 1 times… clean your room or you won’t get to eat any of the first derivative of a cow tonight!”* This book is for the parents of future mathletes. It’s the storybook adventure of two friends as they discover the wonders of calculus. Who knows, you might even learn something yourself, parental unit!

I love games. Boardgames, video games, RPGs, all of them. I’m not a particularly good gamer, but I have fun and to me that’s what counts. I know that for many hardcore gamers the important thing is to win. Players of games like Warhammer 40K can obsess about how to use their points and create an unbeatable army, only to throw their hands in the air when it doesn’t work. At a tournament where the goal is to come out with the trophy, of course you’re playing to win, but hopefully you’re also enjoying the strategy and social interaction that happens in the course of playing the game. How could you not? If you’ve signed up for a tournament that lasts the better part of a day then it would have to hold some interest for you other than just winning or it’d be a mighty long day. In fact, lots of tournaments have trophies for things like painting and sportsmanship so that those who aren’t expert players but enjoy other aspects of the hobby can have fun.
Fun. It all comes back to fun. Oh, except when it comes to video games which, according to this Reuters article, will cause our children to become depressed and anxiety ridden.

Nice marketing, but c’mon, we’ve all seen kids eat. In reality, that construction zone would look like cleanup after a major earthquake. I bet none of those mixed vegetables would even be touching the plate since they would be busy flying toward the walls, the floor, your head, anyplace but the kid’s mouth. That’s what you get when you encourage kids to play with their food. But I’m sure this is better than giving them one of these. Check out the additional Chew Chew Train after the break.

If kids were splitting open your skull to store their slobbery toothbrushes, you would be pissed off too.

One would think that a T-Rex would be something you would need protection from, but in the case of these soft, squeezable night lights, it’s the dinosaurs that keep you safe. When fully charged, these night lights will glow and change colors for up to 8 hours. They can also be removed from the base station and carried around as a toy. Additional dinosaurs are pictured after the break.
