You’re not dreaming. That really is Serenity made from Lego bricks. It’s a beautiful concept that could become a reality with a little help from fans. The set was submitted by LEGOCuusoo user tbone_tbl, and it just needs a couple thousand more votes to be considered for production. Nathan Fillion and Adam Baldwin have already thrown down support for the set on Twitter, and let’s be honest – Browncoats are good at rallying.
Would you buy this set if it makes it to a shelf near you? This Browncoat definitely would.

The opening credits of
Game of Thrones lends itself to Lego. It was only a matter of time before someone tackled building the cities seen in the sequence. It’s not 100% accurate, but the Lego bricks fit in so well with the moving cogs and gears you can ignore it.

If they did it for Harry Potter then they have to do it for Marty McFly. Check out this Back to the Future themed Lego set that you may soon be able to buy. It includes pieces for three different DeLoreans, three Martys and three Docs so you can model them after whichever film in the trilogy is your favorite. This was created as a part of Lego Cuusoo, which encourages fans to design and submit ideas and, if they get 10,000 votes, their project is seriously evaluated for production (a Minecraft version recently passed muster). The Back to the Future set has the votes, now we just have to hope that the good folks at Lego decide they can make it for all of us.

Regular lightbulbs are far too boring. Why choose them when you can have this awesome Darth Vader Lego lamp?! As you would expect, the light source is his lightsaber. You can use batteries to light the room, or you can power the lamp with your computer via a USB cord. The Force might work, too; it’s worth a try. And since the lamp is a basically a 7.5″ Lego figure, it’s poseable! I might have to switch to the Dark side.
This lamp is available next month. Check out a demo video after the break.

In our opinion, Lego is the greatest toy ever made. If you have the skills, you can turn simple Lego bricks into just about anything you can imagine. As a kid, I used Legos to make other toys. As an adult, all I want Lego to do is open beers for me and file my taxes. I’ve got the first part nailed down, but I’m still working on the second.

Zachary Pollock has launched a Kickstarter campaign aimed at creating “Epic Mario”, a complete recreation of World 1-1 from Super Mario Bros in LEGO. Pollock expects that, at a scale of one brick per pixel, the project will measure 90 feet in length and require some 780,000 LEGO bricks.
A goal of $26,400 has been established to cover bricks and mounting materials, and when complete, Pollock plans to transport the mural to conventions, including PAX, BrickCon and Bricks Cascade at his own expense.

If there’s one thing geeks know how to do, it’s argue over stuff. Important stuff like Kirk vs Picard, or Evangelion vs Gundam. Maybe you should all look at this Lego creation as a coming together of different views. There’s no need to argue when given a choice between two obviously fantastic geeky things. They can live together in perfect Lego harmony and we can move on to more important issues like world peace and how to stop Michael Bay from destroying the Ninja Turtles.

I thought I was pretty good with Lego bricks right up until the moment I saw this video of a custom made Lego organ that plays the theme to Star Wars. This is incredible! It’s constructed of more than 20,000 bricks and was part of a German promotional campaign for Star Wars: The Phantom Menace in 3D. Two professional Lego builders worked together to create scenes from the movies all over the spinning drum, positioning the heights of each Lego just perfectly to play out the theme. Originally touring German cinemas, this creation will find a permanent home at Legoland in Germany later this year.

A new exhibition featuring LEGO adaptations of 11 iconic buildings is currently running at the National Building Museum in Washington DC through September 3. Entitled Lego Architecture: Towering Ambition, the collection is made up of 15.5 million LEGO bricks, and includes adaptations of the Burj Khalifa, the Petronas Towers, and the Empire State Building – all of which were created by architect Adam Reed Tucker, who is also one of only 11 LEGO Certified Professionals on earth.

This Minifig-ified version of The Avengers poster makes me wish the entire film was done in Lego. However, the good news is that Lego and Disney are giving away 2 million of these posters to fans that see the film on opening day, May 4th.
There aren’t any details on what theaters will have the posters, but with 2 million floating about, you have a decent shot of scoring one. You might also want to keep an eye out for all of the cool Lego toys coming out to tie-in with the film.
