lightsaber

The lightsaber umbrellas we featured yesterday will help you out when it’s raining outside, but these new lightsaber lamps can slice through a gloomy day with beams of light. You can even add 100-watt red or blue bulbs to complete the effect.

These lamps are currently available for pre-order with shipping slated for April. However, through December 13th you can use our exclusive coupon code “2011NA5″ to save $5 on your order of $50 or more. Use the code “2011NA10″ to save $10 on your order or $90 or more. It’s good for anything sold at EntertainmentEarth—including those awesome umbrellas.

We’ve seen lightsaber-style umbrellas in the past, but these are the real deal—officially licensed Darth Vader, Obi-Wan, and Luke Skywalker versions with Galactic Empire or Jedi Knights emblem silk-screened on the canopy.

The lightsaber umbrellas are available for pre-order now with shipping slated for January 2012.

In addition to their lightsaber prowess, “The Force” is surely what gives these Jedi squirrels their ability to conquer most any birdfeeder.

As far as I can tell these silkscreened pillow weapons are a one-off concept from Bryan Ku—though he would be smart to put them up for sale on Etsy. I would totally choose the lightsaber in battle because it would match my bathrobe.

If you want to make your own lightsaber, but were discouraged by the complexity of this version, you’ll be happy to know that YouTuber Paul created this simplified version using products available in the plumbing area of Home Depot, and assembled it without the aid of solder or glue. All in all it took about $33 to complete and only 33 minutes of his time to build.

It’s the Amish lightsaber!

Seriously though, this is as bad ass as candlesticks get—an all metal reproduction of Vader’s lightsaber. The product is expected to ship on December 5th for $39.99, but you can sign up for an email alert that will notify you when the product is in stock so you can jump on it right away.

Newmindspace recently invited Star Wars fans to New York City’s Washington Square Park in order to stage a lightsaber fight. Although a crowd of only 500 was expected, the number quickly doubled by the time the event got underway. Participants were asked to choose either Jedi or Sith, with lightsabers being provided to the unequipped.

The release of the Star Wars saga on Blu-ray last weekend prompted promotions and celebrations around the world. Some of them were smaller in scale (like an intense couch-surfing marathon of all six films) and some of them were grander. In addition to the BT Tower being transformed into a lightsaber in London, these lightsabers appeared in Japanese train cars.

In order to help launch the Star Wars: The Complete Collection and individual trilogy Blu-ray box sets, the BT Tower in London became a giant lightsaber on Friday. The one night only tourist attraction was switched on by Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) from within an exclusive launch party.
