Warner Bros. has green lit a live-action/animation
LEGO movie, which is slated for release in 2014.
Variety reports that the film will consist of 80 percent animation produced by Animal Logic, an Aussie-based vfx house whose previous credits include
Happy Feet and
Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole. Although further details are scarce, Variety has provided a list of those involved with the production:
“Lego” has been in development at Warner Bros. since 2008, when the studio began working with the toymaker on a family comedy based on the popular building blocks with Dan Lin and Roy Lee producing and the writing team of Dan and Kevin Hageman tapped to pen the script. In 2010, Warners brought on the “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs” team of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller to write and direct… Warners recently brought on Chris McKay, director of Adult Swim’s stop-motion animation/comedy “Robot Chicken,” to serve as co-director on “Lego” under Lord and Miller.
With such impressive talent involved behind the scenes, the resulting film will surely be on the top of every LEGO fanatic’s “must see” list.

Though it kind of feels like an elaborate fan film, the video after the break is purportedly test footage from a ThunderCats movie that was in development five years ago under Warner Bros. but never got made (which, after watching the video, is probably a good thing).
Thankfully, we still have the new ThunderCats TV series to look forward to.

From Fashionably Geek: The LA Times snagged this pic from the upcoming Thor movie featuring his father Odin (Sir Anthony Hopkins) wearing an asinine gold eyepatch and his brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston). Damn, that freakin’ eyepatch. And what’s up with the armor? Is anyone wearing a helmet in this movie?
On the plus side (I guess) both Thor and Captain America have been confirmed as 3D flicks.

Yes, this
movie might make
Godzilla look like an Oscar winner, but Alien vs. Ninja from director Seiji Chiba has that cult hit vibe—one of those movies that’s so bad it’s good. And you simply can’t beat the concept (unless you somehow work pirates and/or zombies in there).
The film is currently looking for a distributor in the US, so let’s keep our fingers crossed that it will eventually turn up wherever cheesy Asian movies are sold.
