The Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey doesn’t hit theaters until December, but sneak peeks have some viewers giving it the evil eye. Attendees at CinemaCon last week got a special ten minute preview which showed off the fact that the film was shot at a higher 48 frames per second as opposed to the standard 24—and not everyone thought it was a good experience. A bit like those who love 3D and those who hate it, many felt it made the film looked so real that it ended up looking fake.

If they did it for Harry Potter then they have to do it for Marty McFly. Check out this Back to the Future themed Lego set that you may soon be able to buy. It includes pieces for three different DeLoreans, three Martys and three Docs so you can model them after whichever film in the trilogy is your favorite. This was created as a part of Lego Cuusoo, which encourages fans to design and submit ideas and, if they get 10,000 votes, their project is seriously evaluated for production (a Minecraft version recently passed muster). The Back to the Future set has the votes, now we just have to hope that the good folks at Lego decide they can make it for all of us.

Mondo has created a series of seven new posters for the Avengers that will have everyone looking to redecorate their living rooms. They already debuted first two, Black Widow and Hawkeye, and now they’ve revealed the next four. Each poster in the series is designed by a different artist, including the last yet to be unveiled image of the whole Avengers team. Artists behind this most recent batch include Martin Ansin on Thor, Phantom City Creative on Captain America, Ken Taylor on Hulk and Kevin Tong on Iron Man. All the posters were available in very limited quantities and have already sold out, but follow @MondoNews for your chance to grab an upcoming version featuring the whole team.

An amazing new viral video for Prometheus introduces us to Michael Fassbender as the robot David. He’s the perfectly innocent robot who is supposed to make our lives easier, but you just know that it’s all going to go terribly wrong. From the not-quite-human way he holds his head to the barely there smile that disappears far too suddenly, nothing good can come of this.

Confession time: I don’t believe Ghostbusters 3 is necessary. I do believe that good franchises should be allowed to be put to rest and end their stories on high notes. However, if a Ghostbusters script is already in the can, who really knows? I’d sure like Peter Venkman to be part of it. Until recently though, there was no reason to think Bill Murray would be involved. But there might be a glimmer of hope.

Thanks to Jurassic Park, we’ve all looked in our side view mirrors at one point or another and imagined a raging T-Rex charging at us from the next traffic light. But have you ever wondered how Steven Spielberg saw it in his director’s eye? Now you can get a look at how he brought it all together in this nearly 8-minute piece of footage from the making of the movie. Originally included in the press kit, this rarely seen piece of video shows Spielberg laying out the scenes, talking to actors and even filming and smiling as he sees the vision in his head become real.

It’s hard to image what a classic arcade game like Pac-Man would look like today. Not so if you’re the folks at Steelehouse Productions. They’ve put together a short movie with an updated version of the little yellow guy. He’s now part of a secret government experiment and his name is short for Polymorphic Autonomous Compound Manipulator. It’s not clear exactly what he’s for, but with a name like that he’s got to be some kind of super-weapon that is destined to run out of control, gobbling all our precious energy and depleting the world’s supply of bananas. And possibly cherries.

It’s hard to beat a fast car with a rich guy behind the wheel, and when the guy is Batman and the car is the Batmobile it’s sure to make all the girls swoon. Probably more than a few of the guys, too. If you were lucky enough to be hanging out at Bob’s Big Boy in Burbank, California last weekend, then you got a look at the Batmobiles in all their glory. Warner Brothers broke out the cars from Adam West through Christian Bale to film a segment for The Dark Knight Rises video release. This makes me think I should be spending more time hanging out at burger joints.

This awesome video projection system has the power to create the most unique movie immersion experience ever, basically turning your living room into the movie you’re watching. Apparently this was all done without the aid of SFX, post production or cuts.
“By attaching the PlayStation Move to the camera, we can track projections to screens in real time, enhancing the effect of spatial deformation and false perspective on the projections and allowing viewers to look round (virtual) corners, bend walls, create a hole in the wall, or remove the walls altogether to reveal vast expanses of virtual worlds.”
