If you’re a millionaire looking for the ultimate in private underground living and apocalypse survival, consider this 2,000 square foot home in Saranac, N.Y. which happens to be built on top of a cold war era missile silo. Gregory Gibbons bought the property in 1991, and along with his cousin, Bruce Francisco, converted the former launch control center, comprising an additional 2,300 square feet of space, into a luxurious estate complete with dining and entertainment areas, two bedroom suites with marble bathrooms, 10-foot tall ceilings, simulated daylight and an open floor plan.

Although the 9 story silo is currently empty, Francisco suggests the space would be perfect for underground condos ” if people are worried about the end of the world”. If you’re interested, the current prices are as follows: $750,000 for the silo home, $259,000 for the log home, or $1.76 million for the whole 195-acre property and runway.

New York Comic Con took over the Javits Center in Manhattan last weekend. Comics, toys, and costumes abounded. Saturday and Sunday of the convention sold out, and attendees crowded the floor to shop, get comic books signed, demo video games (like Star Wars: The Old Republic), and attend one of the many panels on the jam-packed schedule. Every convention has its own vibe, and this one was the convention that never stopped moving. Despite being smaller in scale than say, San Diego Comic-Con, it always felt like there was some place to rush to. In the midst of dashing around the convention center, I saw plenty of costumes and toys.

Guides to New York City often include the same tourist highlights. They list sites like the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. They neglect the landmarks from comics, video games, and movies. Users on BuzzFeed have corrected this error. Thanks to this nerd guide to New York City, you can find Spider-Man’s apartment, The Avengers headquarters, and so much more. That’s my kind of tour.

Remember maps? Before GPS they were those paper thingies that would help you with directions and were impossible to fold. Well, about a decade too late are these crumpled maps from Emanuele Pizzolorusso. They’re made from waterproof Dupont Tyvek and are currently available in five versions: London, Paris, New York, Berlin and Tokyo. The best part? Instead of folding, these maps are meant to be crumpled into a little ball and stuffed in your pants or purse in a manner that says “Eh…Hell with it, I’ll figure out where I am eventually”.

Hook your restaurant up with a unique tile mural and give your customers something to look at while they try to avoid small talk with the people sitting next to them. With this  NY cityscape they can enjoy playing the garbage and graffiti version of “I Spy”, or “Where’s Waldo Getting Mugged?”. The product page also offers several designs that feature patterns of nude figures. If any of those are women you can pretty much count on men to stay longer and buy more since they’ll most likely have trouble standing up.
