For the last month, artists have been hard at work transforming a giant mound of snow into a 53-foot tall bust of Optimus Prime peering over a wall. The sculpture will debut at this year’s Asahikawa Winter Festival in Asahikawa, Hokkaido Prefecture starting today and running through February 12th.

This 26-foot Optimus Prime ice sculpture resides in Switzerland where it was carved by artist Atti Pedrozo. Unfortunately, Ice Optimus and the Autobots met their end after a wave of on-the-rocks drinks and snow cones.

Building giant robots in Japan and China seems to be all the rage these days, and an earlier Optimus Prime sculpture built by college students has been easily trumped by this 33-foot behemoth that resides just ouside of the iconic Bird’s Nest stadium in Beijing. Like its predecessor, this Optimus is made entirely out of junk. Lots and lots of junk.

Actually, this sculpture a mashup between Optimus Prime and Chinese warrior hero Guan Yu (Guan Gong). Either way, it looks pretty impressive—especially if you believe the claim that this 30-foot behemoth was constructed by Central Academy Of Fine Arts University students using only old truck parts (with the exception of the face and the blade) for around $4500.

You never thought you were going to find windows for your blessed church of Optimus, then Timothy Miller steps in with these visions of handmade stained glass glory. They may not be for sale, but that won’t detract from the inspiration. Timothy has also created windows honoring Superman, the Thundercats and even Cobra from G.I. Joe. Check them out after the break.

Whoa, looks like Optimus Prime cat has gotten a bit soft…everywhere. Unfortunately, not much is known about this “TFcat” plush, other than they come in two sizes. We can only assume that it is the first installment in a series that will be available nowhere near the US sometime in the future. UPDATE: The Optimus Prime Fat Cat plush is now available via BBTS for $20-$40.

Mickey Mouse was top dog for a long time, but no longer. He has been out of the limelight for a while. Now we know why. He has been retooling himself as a transformer to come back as a part of Optimus Prime’s gang. You can’t blame the poor mouse, it is hard to fall so far when you were once king of the hill. Available in black and white or color versions. The picture above is an unpainted prototype.
