paper crafts

What do you get when you mix photography, paper silhouettes, and a passion for geek things? Neat 2D art featuring scenes from movies and games in different ways than you’ve seen before.

Photography student David A. Reeves carefully cuts characters, props, and settings out of paper. That has to take a level of patience I can’t fathom. Then he sets up shots with equally painstaking care to get them just right. Lighting, perspective, placement – it’s all important to make the end result look good. He has created paper odes to Half-Life, Batman, Assassin’s Creed, Resident Evil 4, and more – and they’re all amazing.

At first glance this looks like origami, but it’s a different paper craft and one that’s just stunning. This is paper sculpture and artist Cheong-ah Hwang has been working at it since she was just a child in her parents’ South Korean printing shop. Her subject matter ranges from superheroes, to fairy tales to every day objects and she recreates them, sometimes as whole scenes, with unbelievable detail.
