Great news! That R2-D2 Homestar Planetarium we revealed last week is actually going to be available in the states. It can be pre-ordered now for $114.99 (ships in October).

In case you missed it, the R2-D2 planetarium can project around 10,000 stars onto the ceiling—including the Death Star. That’s a bit of astronomy you won’t learn in some fancy school that emphasizes “accuracy”.

Sega Toys upcoming R2-D2 planetarium is fully functioning and completely accurate—save for the inclusion of the Death Star (pictured after the break).

No worries though, if your kids start to ask questions about why they can’t see the Death Star in the night sky, just take them to Disney to visit it while riding Star Tours.

This Death Star-shaped planetarium includes the worlds of the Star Wars galaxy as well as our own night sky. Make sure not to confuse the two on your next science test.

Now you can explore the mysteries of the universe from the comfort of your bed thanks to this orrery-esque ceiling light. The planets orbit around the “sun” and the included CD takes you on an audio tour of the solar system. There is even a remote control with a built-in laser pointer for highlighting objects and simulating comets and meteors. An additional image is available after the break.
