Square Enix has unveiled their Play Arts Variant Black Panther Figure, and it…is…pointy. Kinda reminds me of a Michael Bay-style Transformer. That is to say, I would have preferred a sleeker design with this one. Their recent Doctor Strange, Wonder Woman and Joker figures were a little more balanced (though the concept behind the Joker figure is crazy as hell). Check out more pics below. [click to continue…]

Square Enix has unveiled a new Wonder Woman Play Arts Kai figure based on her appearance in the smash hit solo film. We loved the BvS version, but the sculpt and details on this figure are a definite upgrade.

It’s not as crazy as many of the other figures in the Play Arts Kai lineup, but it doesn’t need to be. With the possible exception of Hot Toys recent training armor figure, this is the best Wonder Woman figure we’ve seen thus far. It’s available for pre-order now ($149.99) with shipping slated for October 2017. Check out more pics below. [click to continue…]

Wolverine is joining the Marvel Universe Variant Play Arts Kai line with his own over-the-top figure. You can certainly see the attention to detail here, from the armor down to the veins on his biceps (which are pretty much the same size as his head). [click to continue…]

This year marks the 15th anniversary of Kingdom Hearts and Square Enix is celebrating with a stained glass clock display inside the Tokyo Metro Marunouchisen Shinjuku Station through January 15th.

The display features a stained glass Sora clock surrounded by 12 smaller stained glass designs. Plus, they plan to give the entire display away to a lucky fan as part of a Twitter contest. Take a closer look at this stunning art below. [click to continue…]

Square Enix has unveiled their Marvel Play Arts Variant Deadpool and it’s packed with loads of interchangeable parts and accessories. Thirteen interchangeable hands, three heads, multiple knives and swords (sheaths included), a gun, and a figure stand (and a partridge in a pear tree!). He stands almost 10.5 inches and features over 20 points of articulation. Love that armor too—he looks like something out of Tony Stark’s workshop. You can pre-order him now for $149.99 with shipping slated for May 2017.

Play-Arts-Kai-Two-Face-Batman-007

If you’ve ever looked at a Batman action figure and thought to yourself, “It’s good, but I wish it were, like, 50% more sinewy,” then Square-Enix’s Play Arts Kai Two-Face mashup has you covered.

Announced at San Diego Comic-Con as part of an upcoming range of Batman figures that mashes the Dark Knight with members of his rogues gallery, this particular entry fuses him with Two-Face, who prior to the horrific accident that turned him into a duality-based criminal was, of course, better known by the name of One-Face (It’s a fact. Don’t question it).

Anyway, the figure is gorgeous, if expensive. It’s priced at 21,384 yen, or roughly two-hundred American dollars, so you have to really know you want it. Of course, if you’re on the fence you could always flip a coin. Check out more photos of the thing below. [click to continue…]

Play-Arts-Kai-Nightwing

The newest Batman: Arkham Knight Play Arts Kai figure has just debuted.

It’s Nightwing’s turn.

Armed with his acrobatic abilities, Nightwing fights against formidable villains. The Batman Arkham Knight Nightwing Play Arts Kai Action Figure features a meticulous attention to the fine details of his armored suit to render his nimble yet strong physique. The paintwork places heavy emphasis on the texture of each material, from the complexities of the various fabrics to the life-like skin tone. Nightwing comes equipped with his gadgets, including his Escrima Sticks, which can be stowed away on his back using an adapter piece. This figure also has a very wide range of mobility in order to recreate Nightwing’s flashier action poses. The metallic, almost iridescent accent colors in his chest and shoulders shimmer brightly, as if to show off his distinctive identity. The Batman Arkham Knight Nightwing Play Arts Kai Action Figure measures approximately 10 1/2-inches tall x 4 1/8-inches wide x 2 1/3-inches long, includes display stand and is packaged in a window box.

bushido batman top

Square Enix has added a new 11-inch Bushido Batman figure to their “Timeless” Play Arts Kai collection and it’s even pointier than previous Spartan, Steampunk and Wild West-themed figures in the series.

The figure will include two swords, a grappling hook and multiple hands. Unfortunately, it won’t come cheap at 19,800 yen ($175) when it’s released in Japan in June. It might even been more if/when it ever becomes available in the U.S.

Plus, you’ll have to spend extra money on Band-Aids and Neosporin.
