On Friday, hackers at MIT managed to convert the campus’ Green Building into a giant playable game of Tetris, which was then captured on video for our enjoyment. Check it out after the break.

Julius von Brunk created this LEGO Game Boy Transformer entitled “Domaster” (short for “Dot Matrix with Stereo Sound”) – a name which pays homage to Game Boy’s monochrome screen and what was at the time high-tech portable sound. The Domaster required a month of work, and sports two LEGO AA batteries, a transforming Tetris cartridge and “custom water-slide clear decals” printed from a laser printer.

Forget playing Tetris on a screen. This officially licensed lamp allows you to organize individual cube lamps into different designs that will light up only when you stack them. You could build a different lamp every day. It might not be the most practical choice for home lighting, but it is one of the coolest I’ve seen. Bonus points if you play the Tetris theme song each time you re-stack your lamp.
This light will be available in September for $50.
Tetris virtuoso Shuey187 has already used the game to create a Mario sprite, and is now back to take on Luigi. Although the actual creation of the Luigi character took 64 minutes, you can watch the entire process in less than five thanks to the magic of time lapse. There’s a lot to admire here: patience, dedication, artistry, and the unbelievable skill needed to spend all that time at the top of the playing field without losing. Check it out after the break.
Tetris: Le Film—since when did France become as weird as Japan?
To be honest I half expected a black and white film with a Tetris block living in a mansion. But, life comes at him fast and he realizes that that he’s a block a in a world that needs straight lines. In the end he “falls” onto hard times and finds himself weeping alone in his crumbling, dingy old apartment.

Unless you were a kid who liked to put everything in his mouth, you probably never looked at a Tetris cartridge and thought: “Man, that looks delicious”. But times have changed and thanks to Flickr user elegantcakesaz, The retro NES cartridge has been transformed into a giant Groom’s cake decorated with tetromino. Take note ladies, if your husband-to-be is obsessed enough to order cartridge cake for his Bachelor party, it’s probably a safe bet that excessive attention to gaming will probably be an issue in your marriage… Just sayin’.
If you enjoy some old school Tetris but have tired of the computer version then this Toppling Tetracubes game will bring new life to your obsession. Just stack the colored cube the game specifies before the timer goes off and the tower starts shaking or else you will have to see if you can re-stack the whole thing before the timer runs out. Think of this as the first step toward prying your lazy butt away from computer games.
