Adding to his portfolio of action figure paintings, artist Robert Burden created this awesome work featuring the the Thundercats. The painting, entitled “Soliders of Thundera,” measures 6 feet by 11 feet unframed, and required 1,000 hours of work spread over 7 months. The best part is that Robert created a time-lapse video of the painting’s creation, which you can check out after the break – there’s also an easter egg at the end in the form of stop motion animation.

This past weekend’s WonderCon convention in San Francisco gave the world a closer look at the upcoming ThunderCats reboot in the form of a new trailer.

If you recall, the first trailer was unveiled back in February, but it did little more than give us a glimpse at what the show will look like. The new trailer gives us more detail about the plot and reveals some sci-fi elements (yea mechs!).

Check out the trailer after the break.

Though it kind of feels like an elaborate fan film, the video after the break is purportedly test footage from a ThunderCats movie that was in development five years ago under Warner Bros. but never got made (which, after watching the video, is probably a good thing).

Thankfully, we still have the new ThunderCats TV series to look forward to.

It’s a great time to be a Thundercats fan with the new series getting ready to premiere, new toys on the way, and new figures like the 6-inch Jaga and Jackalman from Icon Heroes.

Jackalman features an interchangeable right arm and Jaga features an interchangeable head. Both are available for pre-order now for a shipment in September 2011.

A 14-inch Mega Scale Lion-O figure was also unveiled recently (Pre-Order for July 2011). It’s pictured after the break.

The first official Thundercats image from the series reboot was revealed last week, but it did not feature Snarf. Well, that was remedied today thanks to a series of product images for the new toy line.

Snarf’s more animal-like appearance and lack of publicity thus far might be indicative of his reduced role in the cast. As we learned back in November from producer Michael Jelenic, Snarf would (thankfully) be a mute character—something that was included in the story for mostly nostalgia’s sake.

You can see Snarf pictured in the corner of the Thunder Tank image after the break. Other upcoming toy releases pictured include Lion-O, Cheetara and the Sword of Omens.
