Following the leaked image from yesterday, Warner Bros was forced to show their hand a bit early—unveiling an official photo and the press release after the break.

It isn’t the best image in the world, but this pic snatched from the London Toy Fair is first look the world has seen of the upcoming Thundercats reboot set to premiere on Cartoon Network sometime later this year.
Damn, Panthro is freakin’ huge!

Back in June we learned that Cartoon Network was bringing ThunderCats back to TV, but since then things have been pretty quiet. However, MTV’s Splash Page got some details straight from producer Michael Jelenic about what fans can expect from a “reimagining” of the franchise:
I loved ThunderCats when I was a kid, but over time it left a bad taste in my mouth because when it came on in the afternoon I knew that I had to go to Tae Kwon Do class—which I hated. Nonetheless, I’m over the scars four years of that crap inflicted on my fragile young mind, and am officially stoked to hear that Cartoon Network is rebooting the series.
Plus, Bandai will be creating new toys to complement the franchise.

Remember ThunderCats? Loved ‘em. Had all the action figures. That is until I developed a bad association with the show. For the better part of four years it came on right before I had to leave for Taekwondo class. I hated Takewondo class. When I heard that dumbass theme song, I knew the end was near.
Still, that doesn’t mean that this handmade Lion-O plush isn’t certifiably badass. I don’t know if its worth $20o mind you, but it’s badass nonetheless.

After the fun everyone had with the Halo Covenant Energy Sword replica the other day, I decided to find out if there were any other amusing sword replicas on the market. Not surprisingly, there are many—including a special item from one of my favorite shows as a kid: ThunderCats. Lion-O’s Sword of Omens features a 37-inch steel blade with an Eye of Thundera that lights up at the push of a button. A close-up image is available after the break.
