Are you in Seattle? Zoom to Craigslist immediately. You can buy a 1/3 scale TIE fighter made from plywood for just $150. Make it your new playhouse. Display it in your front yard. Let it be a planter. At that price, you just need to get it. From the ad:
8x8x8 feet but breaks down into 5 pieces for easy transport in a pickup or can haul partially assembled (except for the top half of the wings) on a trailer. Wheeled casters make it easy to move once assembled. Laser cannons are set to fire standard party poppers. Well built out of 3/4 plywood with the wings sheeted in cardboard. Tested to hold over 300 pounds. Cockpit is 38 inches by 38 inches and my 5ft tall son comfortably sits inside.
It might just be worth a roadtrip to pick this up. You don’t quite have to go to a galaxy far, far away either. Of course, it may already be to late. On that note, a screencap of the original ad is available after the break.
Just in time for Christmas, Sheep Creek Needlecraft is selling 100% hand needle felted wool Star Wars ornaments which include the TIE Fighter, X-Wing, Millennium Falcon, and of course, Yoda. Hit the jump to check out some additional photos.
Matheson Harris has amassed an impressive collection of Star Wars spaceships including the Millennium Falcon, Star Destroyer, Tie Fighter and even an AT-AT – the most interesting part however, is that they were all fashioned from cardboard. As impressive as the works are, Matheson takes an understated approach:
Hot glue, cardboard, sharpie, a few sucker sticks and ping pong balls = garbage armada

Star Wars super fan Kevin “CorellianCustoms” Glenn created these two custom console mods consisting of a Rebel Snowspeeder SNES and a TIE Fighter Nintendo 64 – each including their respective controllers, A/V cables and power bricks. If you’ve just fallen in love, you’ll be thrilled to know that you can actually buy these mods from CorrellianCustom’s Etsy page. They may be a little steep at $185 and $210, but my guess is that won’t deter many.

Okay, so it’s not a TIE fighter—it’s the International Space Station. But that makes this photo shot by astrophotographer Thierry Legault during a recent partial solar eclipse pretty damn cool anyway.

From That’s Nerdalicious!: The Star Wars pancake molds/cookie cutters were such a big hit for Willams-Sonoma that they went back to the well and developed TIE Fighter and Millennium Falcon sandwich cutters. They even come in a vintage style tin.
Han Solo doesn’t like crusts either. It’s a fact.

It’s not a lack of effort mind you. I mean, they always fly up really fast hoping and praying this will be the day they finally score a hit, but in the end their target just vanishes and they end up crashing and burning. Aaugh! Unfortunately, you can’t actually go out and buy something like this. It was a one off piece by artist Tom Torrey that combined two of his childhood passions.

Not every kid is going to grow up to be Luke Skywalker. There is plenty of room for those that want to oppose the forces of good. The Tie Fighter Playhouse will give your kids a leg up on the other kids who are trying to curry favor with the dark side. It is really just an investment in your child’s future, along with a bet on which side will be victorious.
