Well TWO tricks if you want to get technical about it. Zibit robots can move forward and spin. Forward, spin, forward, spin…honestly I don’t know how you could possibly get tired of that. The fact that they are so small, cute and cheap will make you forget all about the fact that they are dumb. Dumb as hell.
Expect the whole line to be available sometime in March.
For kids just learning to ride, 2-wheeled bikes can be dangerous and tricycles…well those are just not masculine enough. The Kettquad from German toy maker Kettler fills the void with a 4-wheeled beast that features pneumatic tires, a completely enclosed chain drive, disc brakes and a whopping $800 price tag. Check out the promo video after the break to see the Kettquad in all of it’s German extremeitude.
Coming soon to a roof, tree or gated yard near you, the Air Hogs Vectron Wave UFO. Instead of using a remote control, this baby is powered by gestures. After starting the motor it will start to hover above your palm, then if you move your hand toward the ground, the UFO will follow. An upward gesture will apparently make the UFO gain altitude, and the more violent the motion, the higher it goes. You can also make diagonal toss motions to move it toward a friend so you can play UFO catch with it. The jury’s out on whether it will respond to obscene gestures, but if it doesn’t that would make another great product.
Hasbro continues the theme of awesome remote controlled toys with this R/C Iron Man action figure which will retail for about $50 whenever it hits the shelves. Among its many cool features are shoulder and arm projectile blasters, sound effects and the ability to walk over any smooth surface. However, there’s no flying feature, and he doesn’t have the ability to reason, so unless you want to pretend that Iron Man has severe emotional problems, there’s no need to walk him off the edge of a table.
Hasbro recently unveiled their new radio controlled flying Millennium Falcon which is slated for release this fall with a price tag of $49.99. Measuring 11″ x 8″, it will also hold the title of the largest flying R/C Star Wars craft to date, while also offering impressive detail, a charging controller and vehicle battery for up to five minutes of flying time.
No doubt Star Wars nerds will take issue with the fact that this thing is mostly fan, which detracts from the sexy look of the original Falcon. Although the design could prove useful should Han & Chewy ever want to give guided tours of the Florida Everglades.
At this year’s Toy Fair, Funko has broken away from simple bobblers and computer sitters with these Darth Vader and Stormtrooper MP3 speakers. There isn’t much in the way of details just yet, but I have to wonder whether or not these things double as lamps.
