If you ever want to know what “patience” and “dedication” look like, check out the music video for “8-Bit Trip”, a song by Swedish band Rymdreglage. The video was created as a stop-motion nod to retro video games made entirely from Lego. The video took over 1,500 hours to complete, and required each Lego-constructed character to be moved individually, then photographed. Check out the video and additional behind the scenes photos after the break.

Someone with a lot of creativity and time created this amazing “pixel” animation of classic video games like Pong, Tetris and Pac-Man using tealight candles. The Tetris sequence is especially convincing. Check out the video after the break.

Jared “NikeJerk” Cain combined artistry with a love of video games and too much free time to create over 50 Super Mario themed custom vinyl pieces which will be featured in an exhibition entitled “Chomping At The Bit”, opening on April 9th at Ultra Pop in Louisville, Kentucky.

Artist Kordian Lewandowski drew inspiration from Michelangelo’s mind boggling Renaissance sculpture “La Pietá” and combined it with polystyrene foam and nerd to create “Game Over”, an artistic ode to the consequences of 2D, 8-bit battle. The sculpture shows Princess Peach cradling Mario, probably after he fell through a crack or touched one of those angry mushrooms with an underbite during a 1up famine.

Although the sculpture itself isn’t for sale, there is a cool print available here.

Donald Kennedy put his custom toy building talents to good use creating this concept Mario Mech which is made from a vinyl figure and a Mario keychain. He eventually plans to build Mechs for a variety of characters in Marioland so they can wreak havoc with giant versions of themselves. However, Mario’s not going to earn any intimidation points if these things are built to scale. At this rate, it looks like him and his Mech will only be the size of your average human.
