“Futurama” Planet Express Ship Model Is So Realistic You’d Swear It Was CGI

This unbelievably realistic model of the Planet Express ship from Futurama is so well-done that it looks like CGI, not something that exists in the physical world. It’s the work of Harrison Krix who works with Volpin Props on all sorts of amazing projects. He was commissioned to build two of the ships for clients which was a special treat since Krix is a huge Futurama fan.

Each model was built to 1:50 scale and includes 22 LEDs with 18 of them making up the pulsing thruster array of the dark matter engines. It was all hand sculpted, molded, and cast in urethane resin. You can read about the process in a series of posts of over on the Volpin Props blog.
