Kids have delightful imaginations but not the best understanding of how the human body fits together. Therefore, their drawings and doodles are often a bit out of balance. People and animals have spindly legs that couldn’t hold them up and illustrations of family pets are sort of just one big blob. That’s what makes them great though—they’re always fun to look at. With that in mind, Wendy Tsao has started a business to turn those drawings into little stuffed toys. Brilliant.
Child’s Own Studios is pretty straightforward. You submit your kid’s illustration, and Tsao turns it into a three dimensional plushie. She’s created dozens of the adorable toys so far, and the service is so popular she’s actually not taking new commissions at the moment. You’ll want to keep her information on file though for when she’s available again. This would make a great gift for a kid, not to mention a priceless momento for parents as the child grows to adulthood.
