After a long day out eating brains and generally terrifying the still living, even a zombie is looking for a little unconditional love at home. Your average pet would most likely get eaten so an undead pet is the only answer. Having something to come home to may keep the zombies off the streets a little longer as well which can only be a good thing for you.
