We all knew it was coming. Here are the details - short and sweet:
- $14.99 for new movies ($12.99 first week)
- $9.99 for archive titles
- 30 minutes to download movies over 5Mbit (640×480)
- Titles will be available the same day the DVD is released
Apple’s iTV (tentative title). Here’s the details:
- Kinda looks like a flattened Mac Mini
- iTV is a WiFi enabled set top box that will allow users to stream iTunes movies and TV programs right to their television.
- USB, 802.11 wireless, Ethernet, HDMI, component, stereo audio, and optical audio
- Includes updated version of Front Row interface
- Will work with iTunes on both PC’s and Macs
- Price: $299
- Available Q1 of 2007

[...] It appears that Apple is currently negotiating with Wal-Mart about an alliance regarding iTunes Movies. If a deal is reached, it could mean a slice of iTunes profits for Wal-Mart and Apple could gain access to movies from every major studio. Apple’s foray into the movie download business has brought tensions between the two companies to an all time high over the last few months. Wal-Mart was worried about being undercut and it responded by throwing it’s weight around Hollywood.
