Being a painter myself, I have a deep love for art—especially in the classical sense. I also have a huge library of art books, but the one that I’m going to leave on my coffee table is definitely Drew Struzan’s Oeuvre.

If you are a fan of movies like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, ET, Back To the Future and Harry Potter, you are already familiar with Drew Struzan. He’s done posters for some of the biggest blockbusters of all-time. Struzan is a legend, and his work has captivated me since I was a child. That’s why I was thrilled to hear that he published a definitive collection of his artwork—250 pieces in all, spanning “his most iconic movie images, as well as other career highlights, from record album, book, and comic book covers, to stamps, trading cards, promotional artwork and very personal original works.” The collection also includes recent and unpublished pieces and a foreword by George Lucas.
I have to say that I loved the the inclusion of his personal work as it really helped me fashion a complete picture of him as an artist. The style isn’t always what you would expect.
The bottom line is that if Drew Struzan released a collection that he cobbled together on a scanner and stapled together haphazardly, it would still be brilliant. This book is truly a thing of beauty—a real must-have for movie buffs and art buffs alike.
