Much like their Musica system we had shown earlier here, Olive’s Opus system is a digital storage device with a built in CD player to rip tracks, play music or record your own CD’s. It has built in Wi-Fi and a four port switch to connect to your home network.
Based on an IBM PowerPC processor and boasting a 400 GB HDD, it has 2.5x the capacity of the Musica. It offers analog and digital outputs, and two USB ports that can be used to stream music to a MP3 player. It also offers the ability to listen to Internet radio and you can use the networking to stream music to your network connected PC’s. All of this sounds very nice, and doubtless it’s function matches it’s handsome appearance, but for $2999, I think there are cheaper ways to accomplish the same thing. Specifications can be found on the Opus page at Olive’s website.
