Sprint

Sprint has become the first carrier to offer pay-per-view movies for mobile devices. The service allows users to stream full length movies right to their phone for $3.99-$5.99 each.

According to the press release, “Sprint Movies features many of the same conveniences as a DVD player. A movie can be seen in its entirety all at once, or it can be divided into chapters and watched over time. Customers can play, pause and skip forward or backward to different chapters. They can also resume a movie at the exact point where it was last shut down.”

Customers can also view the movie for an unlimited time within a set period – between 24 hours and a week depending on the title.

Sprint is currently offering a mix of 45 recent box office hits and classic flicks – with a promise to continually add new titles.

It doesn’t take a psychic to tell you that our lives will increasingly revolve around our cell phones, so this move doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Still, how this will play out with the upcoming release of iTunes Movies will be interesting to watch.
