Intel Develops 45nm Processors

Intel has already begun shipping 65nm processors like the Exreme Edition 955, and now the company claims that 45nm chips will launch towards the end of 2007.

Intel has already produced demo chips based on the technology along with the intial details of the 45nm process.

“Compared to its 65-nm process, Intel claims that its new 45-nm technology has a two-fold improvement in transistor density, a 20-percent jump in switching speeds and a 30-percent reduction in power.”
