The ‘Adventure Time’ Team May Be Working On A Gritty ‘Castlevania’ Series

With Adventure Time winding down, Frederator Studios is gearing up for a new project that will undoubtedly excite fans of classic gaming.

During and appearance on the Nickelodeon Animation podcast, Fred Seibert of Frederator noted that his team is working on an “unnamed” project “based on one of the most world-famous video games of the last 30 years.” “[W]e’ve had in our shop for 12 years without being able to get it started,” he said. “But there were great characters and a great story, and eventually we got it going.”

While he doesn’t mention Castlevania specifically, there is evidence to suggest that this is the project in question.

Back in August of 2015, producer Adi Shankhar revealed that he teamed up with Frederator to work on a “super violent” Castlevania mini-series:

Speaking with Collider, Shankar revealed that the story would be based on Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. He also noted that it would be loaded with gore and violence:

There will be a lot.The goal is to bring hard hitting anime to the America and be America’s first animated series for adults.

So the pieces all fit together, but keep in mind that there hasn’t been any confirmation on the subject of the project. However, Seibert’s confirmation that it would be based on a classic game is enough to get us super excited. I mean, there are plenty of games from that era that we would love to see as an animated series.
