The original Arduboy was designed as the ultimate attention-grabbing business card. At the time, creator Kevin Bates was considering crowdsourcing the design. Well, he followed through, and the updated version is proving quite popular indeed.
This sweet little device is kind of like the original Nintendo Game Boy, only it’s the size of a credit card. You can choose tons of 8-bit classic games which are all free from the Arduboy Arcade. They’ve changed the name of the games, but you’ll recognize your favorites from the early days of gaming—like Ardumon (totally Pokémon), Alien Attack (actually Space Invaders) and Maruino (without a doubt Super Mario Bros).
Arduboy is also completely open source so you can develop your own games or edit existing ones. Free tutorials are available to help you and the results can be shared online.
The Kickstarter campaign has already exceed their goal, but early backers can still snag the Arduboy for $39.00 and expect to receive it in October. And if you have mucho bucks to drop, you could secure the only solid gold version. Woah.
