2K Sports made good on their $1 million “Perfect Game Challenge” promotion for MLB 2K10. The winner? A 24-year old Alabaman man named Wade McGilberry.
With only minimal practice over the last couple of months, McGiberry managed to accomplish the perfect game on only his sixth try.
Shortly after that, 2K Sports called McGiberry claiming that he was a “finalist” in the contest and that his Xbox console would need to be verified to ensure that it wasn’t rigged. Instead they showed up with one of those awesome oversized checks. Kind of like Publisher’s Clearing House—only Ed McMahon was replaced by some game company rep and the recipient was a nerd instead of a senior citizen.
However, instead of blowing the money on Star Wars memorabilia or some other nerdly pursuit, McGiberry and his wife plan to be responsible with the money—paying off their mortgage and starting a family. Bravo Wade…bravo.
