Hold Your Wee For A Wii: The Hammer Comes Down

Days after a radio station based out of Sacramento California held a “Hold Your Wee For A Wii” contest that left 28 year Jennifer Lea Strange dead, the word has come down that 10 employees were fired over the incident including the shows three hosts.

Five crew workers and the hosts of KDND-FM’s “Morning Rave” – who go by the on-air names Trish, Maney and Lukas, were fired along with two other on-air personalities, “Carter” and “Fester,” for “violating the terms of their employee agreements” according to a spokesman.

Despite being epically stupid and criminally negligent, no charges will be filed against the station workers because the contestants participated voluntarily.

Perhaps the police did not listen to this audio excerpt from the show where one of the DJ’s asks “Can’t you get water poisoning and die?” to which another DJ replied “Your body is 98% water, why can’t you take in as much water as you want? and “If it gets dangerous for somebody, their body will automatically throw it up.” They even go so far as to mention the kid who died from water intoxication in a school hazing incident and exclaim “maybe we should have researched this.”

If that wasn’t enough, a woman named Eva called the station to explain to the hosts that the contestants could die from water intoxication. A DJ replied by saying “Yeah, we’re aware of that…they signed releases so we’re not responsible – it’s ok.”

The bottom line is that the DJs were aware of the risks yet they went ahead without conducting any research. They may not be charged with a crime, but I hope they think about how their stupidity killed a mother of three every day for the rest of their miserable lives.
