Microsoft announced today that it would increase shipments to retailers by two to three times what they had been receiving in the past. It would appear that they have finally gotten their component supplies in order, and have also brought online a third manufacturer, Celestica.
They say they are still on track to deliver 4.5-5.5 million units by June 30. And while there are a number of titles out there, none have become the blockbuster that Halo has been for the first Xbox. May just be a matter of time, but they had better get some serious consumer loyalty before the PS3 hits the shelves later this year. Nintendo’s Revolution, planned for later this year will be a player in the market as well.
Reports are that they plan to have a total of 50 game savailabel through June 30 of this year. Whether any of those are able to slow down it’s rivals market share has yet to be seen.
