PSP / EA Online Spam

Kotaku is reporting that Fight Night Round 3 for the PSP prompts you to either sign up for e-mail spam from ESPN and other Walt Disney subsidiaries, or pay a $2 fee when you try and play the game online.
Apparently this also occurs with other EA sports games for the PSP .
Obviously this is what phony e-mail accounts are for, but it is still a shady thing to do.
