Google is adding a new service to their Picasa photo management software, allowing users to upload pictures and share them via a URL or e-mail. The software is currently in beta form. Not a whole lot new about this, Flickr is probably the household name of the web site most people use for this functionality.

Still, being a web based service, it is the area that Google wants and needs to dominate. Since their primary stock in trade is web based services, they do need to offer all the dominant types of services. And sharing pictures is a hugely popular service.

They do offer you 250 MB for free, more spae is available if you want to pay for it.
