Maybe I am the only one who sees the humor in this, but on the same day that Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates issued a call for greater security on PC’s that are online, Microsoft announced two new security issues in their products. One involves certain versions of their Media Player allowing malicious code to be launched, the other involves Internet Explorer allowing someone to take full control of a users PC.
With new flaws being announced with some regularity, it seems that the design of the OS makes it nearly impossible for it to be secure. Will Microsoft Vista solve this? I doubt it. While there are sure to be some improvements, for every step they take forward it seems a new vulnerability is found. Even Mr. Gates understands that the key to online activities becoming the accepted norm is for it to be a secure experience. Now if only his products can realize his wishes.
